Practicum Days: Day 1

6.43am we're in the school compound, a warm smile greeted us.

Familiar faces of my past.... familiar places of my youth...

Finally I am back... serving my 'former school..

I am here now! But It feels so surreal...

Am I dreaming? am I seeing things?
(a small piece of me had hoped so..)

The assembly is about to start and we took our seats.

The students are curious.... I can feel their anticipations..

There were few announcements, there was prize giving ceremony, and they sang a birthday song for the teachers...

It felt like a blast from the past...

I did all those things... Once upon a time.

An hour has passed....

I feel like I'm in someone else's dream..
Walking in my own memories..

She greeted us... "Cikgu, saya nak cikgu memperkenalkan diri dgn murid2" .... warm smile..

This is not a dream. This one is real..

My heart jumped! I'm wide awake now. My mind is racing...
Words jumbled up in my mind..

There were a few more announcements, including a fiery speech about loving our Malay language.

We had planned to introduce ourselves in English. Somehow, that speech made us think twice.

.
.
.
.

Few minutes had passed.....
My blood flow is normal again.
I tried to stay as calm as I could.
Positive thinking..... Positive thinking.... Positive thinking....
There's no place to run now....
I had naughty thoughts on escaping...

The voice through the speaker pulled me back into reality..
......"now, we are welcoming 3 new members of this school, teachers, please introduce yourself"

Blood flow is building up speed now...
what was the introduction line I made just now?
we're speaking in what language now?

Dub.. Dab.. Dub.. Dab.. My rib cage almost burst opened...

Holding on to the microphone:
One deep breath... and Here goes..........

"Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh."
sheer silence.......... all focus was on me.
"A very good morning everyone"
.................. everyone cheered.
People clapping their hands.
"I'm Miss Dewi Haikal from IPGM Gaya Campus bla... bla... bla..."
Thus, the cheer grew bigger... and bigger.

I'm aware of it...
The Self Introductory speech made in English language seemed fascinating to them.
What a way of putting up a stamp in this school..

We are after all, English language teachers.

We were glad that things end up the way they were.......
We have arrived!

Later........................

We met a lovely lady, the PK1 of the school.
She was warm & welcoming and generous and kind towards us. 'Someone I aspire to be.......'
we had breakfast together and parted ways short after that.

I realized nothing much has changed since I left the school...

Same buildings...

Stood still just as how I remembered it..

The structure of our pride...

We shared good times and bad times...

Reminiscing our past achievements...

The joy and happiness of those moments..

.
.
.
.

It was a good day as I walked down the memory lane...

It was a good day to experience new things...

It's the start of a new journey.

I'm sure it will be challenging...

Do pray for my well being and success..

Until tomorrow................

ESCAPISM

It’s great how the human mind works. We distinguish between realities and fantasies. Often times the reality ain’t as pretty as we’d imagine. Thus we create another world, the fantasies, for us to escape from the harshness of reality around us.

For an unfortunate person like me, there isn’t much that I can do to run away from reality of my life. Maybe for some people, the options are endless. I can only be happy for few things in life and I’m grateful for that. I’m thankful to those people who made an effort to make my world alive.

Although behind those smiles and laughter, tears and emptiness soon follows. I am trapped in my own fate. *Chuckle*

It’s funny how this is the 1st time I ever been so honest. Maybe it’s damn hard to contain these feelings that I resort to writing poems. Not the 1st time that I try to explain my heart content through it. They are simply pure and honest representative of my silence.

Shakespeare said, life is as brief as the candle. Ironically, that is how I see my life.

A poet expresses things through poems. It doesn’t have to make sense. It’s just sheer expression that made it unique and special. It became my truth. My escapism… from time and time again.

Like Shakespeare, maybe someday someone will solve the puzzle pieces of my life. Although I doubt anyone can do it. :)

Title: A candle.

Pretty it stood, an ornament that warms the souls of its spectators

Being an honest actress putting up outstanding performance

Behind those acts, slowly it melts away,

slowly but surely…

It’s a fragile being.

Silently it burns itself away for the spectators to enjoy.

Behind those pains, it can only feel empty. Because that is how it was made.

Cold and empty inside.

When there is light, the wind blows and darkness consumes the room once again.

But the spectators lit it up to feel the warmth of its company.

Thus the actress dances to the rhythm of the moment.

The pain went away once again. But the emptiness continues.

Slowly but surely…

Everyday is like a clock. Ticking itself away without stopping for a second.

It’s like running a marathon without final destination.

Maybe the end is a total darkness.

….

Thanks for reading.

Now I can rest my weary soul… :)

From Sabahan with Love.

Heyya! Lovers and Haters.. XD

Photos from Islamiology

GyaaHhh~ Cute piccah!!!

OK.

Lets kick of this entry with a Story:

Picture from: http://fem-fatl.com

**BTW, the names are randomly chose, no offend there**

-------------------------------------

Tipah: Hello sikit! awak tu dah la miskin, duduk atas pokok. Kawan ngan Orang Utan. Ada hati nak pikat saye!

(Oh, please, you're so poor, living among the trees, befriended with Orang Utan, you dare to entice me!)

Matungging: Ya la. Ndak saya tawu gini pulak kau punya gaya. Mimang sia urang Sabah. Kau ingat semua urang Sabah ni miskin ka. Indada pelajaran. Buduh macam munyit. Kau ini, muka seja cantik tapi hati busuk..... Bagus lagi sia kawan sama munyit!

(Whoa, so this is your true colour. Yes. I am a Sabahan. what? you think that all Sabahans are poor? That we're uneducated? It's a shame that you have the good looks but not have a pure heart to go with that sweet face of yours. Even the monkeys are better compared to you!)

-----------------------END------------------------------

Well, another thing happened to me the other day...

----------------------

She: Apsal nak jual printer? Printer tu ok lg tak?
Me: OK lagi. Baru beli this year. Dia nak jual, malas nak bawak balik.
She: Owh.. Diorang nak balik mana?
Me: *looking at my friends* Balik sabah
She: *rolled her eyes* *looking at the printer* smirks.

--Eng.Version--

She: Why did she sell off those printer? Is it still OK?
Me: Yes. Those printers are in good condition. She going back home.
She: Oh... where are they going?
Me: *looking at my friends* Back to Sabah
She: *rolled her eyes* *looking at the printer* smirks.

----------------------------------------------END------------------------------------

There are few occurrences such as these that I experienced and observed.

It boggles my mind that there are still 'people' who are being prejudice and treat other people like they ain't shit.

well, in this case, the Sabahans...

.
.
.
.
.

The BiG question is...

WHY the HATE people!!!???!!

Religion teaches us to Love and Never Hate :)

The way I see it... we should Treat Everyone as we would want to Be Treated.....

Or perhaps.. I am MISTAKEN??????????

I guess...

“All animals are created equal”“......but some animals are more equal.”
---One of the 7 commandments in 'animal farm by George Orwell'

Shit.. I could rant about this all nite long
BUT that is not what I intend to highlight here.

AHAKS!!

I saw this video:

A lil' girl from SMK Tambunan (somewhere in Sabah State)
Performing for "English week" held at school.

My Jaw DROPPED!!

Ngee~

*Evil Mind*

(Lets make her viral and put "Friday" song to Doom!!)
NGUhaHaHHahHahHa..

Ok.. ok.. not promoting 'hatred'.
Jeezz.. Chill.. ^^
.
.
.

All jokes aside, I really feel that Sabahans are underrated.

The only way to know someone, is to get to know them.
and that no 'one person equals everybody'.

If you are open minded, and willing to accept others despite the differences, then, Good for you. Keep it up! ^^

If you are... lets say, 'the opposite'... and you don't see other people as more deserving than your selfish self, then, pity you. There's nothing good will come out of hatred. ^^

.
.
.

Neways,

Here are some pretty powerful voices of Sabah.

I chose the best for your listening pleasure.

**BTW, some songs are sung in the local Sabahan dialects, like the Kadazan-Dusun language. So, you might not understand it much. But you can still enjoy their Vocals and Music.

First up,

Jo-anna Sue Henley Rampas

I first heard her sing when I was 11.
She came for a singing competition at our school.
She's been singing since... 5? I suppose.

Or perhaps songs from more familiar Sabahan artists...

Linda & Marsha (from RealityShow AF)

Singing my fav kadazan-dusun Song:

"Kosorou kopo nangku doho" = "Do you still remember me?"
Originally by Jestie Alexius
.
.
.

**BTW, I'm a Malay.. so I don't understand either. :)

BUT
Seriously, just close your eyes and listen to their vocals...
You'd be blown away.

.
.
.

More songs from Sabahans you'd want to check out:

Another fav by Sabbhi Saddi : Nadiku (My pulse)

and

My latest favourite:

Salma from The RealityShow MENTOR

Awesome voice!!!! ^^

and

Last but not least.

My talented friend, Fanzi Ruji

singing Fairytale by Alexander Rybak.

A humble singer. Do show him support! :)
